Big Island Waterfall and Rain Forest Tour

Tour Description

In our Mercedes Sprinter mini-coaches, we’ll revel in the incredible views of Waipio Valley lookout while enjoying a deli-style picnic lunch. Choose from several sandwiches or wraps and select a side of salad or fresh island fruit. We’ll then journey along the Hamakua Coast to one of Hawaii’s most spectacular waterfalls, Akaka Falls! Stroll along the pathway of bamboo, orchids, banana trees and mountain brooks directly to the falls or follow the loop to unending photo opportunities. Turning onto a scenic drive, stop at Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden located in the heart of Onomea Bay. Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden is a museum of living plants that attracts photographers, gardeners, botanists, scientists, and nature lovers from around the world. Explore 40 acres of this tropical rain forest that showcases 2,000 species of tropical flora from around the world; truly a botanical oasis!

Next, cruise through Hilo to Rainbow Falls. Walk the grounds or simply marvel at the waterfall created by a lava tube many years ago. Kaumana Caves sits a little further up the mountain where guests may poke their heads or spelunk deep into a cavernous lava tube to witness Pele’s creation. Tucked away in a mountainous jungle, Kaumana Caves is a natural wonder to behold. In historic downtown Hilo, guests will select one of Jackie Rey’s signature entrees as part of an incredible three course dinner. Finally, leave the driving to us as we journey back over Saddle Road to return you to your hotel. On clear nights, guides may have the opportunity to showcase the glittering starry night sky along the slopes of Mauna Kea. After passing out jackets and hot cocoa, Kailani guides will show off the stars with powerful laser pointers and binoculars before returning back to the resorts and hotels.
