Duration: Approximately 12 hours (Afternoon and Evening)

Pickup Locations: All West Hawaii Hotels and Resorts

Experience the best volcano tour on the island of Hawaii! Travel in luxury and comfort to the Hilo side of the island in our Mercedes Benz mini-coaches along Hawaii Island’s best shortcut – Saddle Road. Enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch at the base of the tallest volcano in the world – Mauna Kea! Enjoy views of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa’s ancient lava flows as the landscape switches from arid to tropical. Near Hilo, guests will have the chance to peek inside or explore more of Kaumana Caves, a Mauna Loa lava flow that nearly reached Hilo in the 1880s. From Hilo, you’ll journey to Puna in the lower east rift zone of Kilauea volcano; the site of Kilauea volcano’s most recent eruption. At McKenzie Beach State Park, explore black lava cliffs and beach. Experience living history and witness volcano goddess Pele’s newest creations. Next, head to the summit of Kilauea to take in the enormity of the giant crater, Halemaumau! Take in the stunning views of a crater that experienced thousands of earthquakes, many explosive rock falls and a draining of gigantic lava lake. For more than 100 days, the summit of Kilauea was the source of a violent eruption in the summer of 2018 that forced the closure of the park and pushed millions of gallons of molten lava to the lower east rift zone in Leilani Estates.

This international news-making event destroyed over 700 structures and displaced thousands in the Puna district. Witness the changes due to this extraordinary event, stand next to steam vents, and trace the rim of the caldera while taking in the raw nature of Kilauea. Outside the park, we’ll enjoy a three-course dinner at Kilauea Lodge, a cozy getaway tucked into the rainforest town of Volcano. On the return over Saddle Road, sip on a hot beverage while your guide navigates through the night sky pointing out stars, planets, and constellations under some of the clearest night skies on the planet.
