There’s a small town on the Big Island that has just been hailed as one of the coolest small towns in the United States!

Listed as one of the top 25 to visit this year, there are tons of reasons why the town of Hilo is a big hit for everyone who visits! This is the place you have to visit on your next trip to Hawaii.

Hilo is the rainiest city in the United States of America, with an average rainfall of 157 inches annually.

That rainfall contributes to lush rainforests filled with waterfalls and over 2,000 species of plants. Not to mention spectacular sunsets that are a dream to watch.

The town of Hilo has just over 46,000 residents.

It’s a diverse mixture of locals who love to live in the area. Because of its rainy reputation, the area is laid back and less likely to be filled with tourists.

You can even visit the Japanese Gardens in town in Liliʻuokalani Park.

This park is home to the largest Japanese Gardens outside of Japan itself. It makes for a memorable, amazing place to spend a morning or afternoon taking in the beautiful scenery.

A quick ride up the coast will bring you to Hawai’i Tropical Bioreserve & Garden.

The garden has over 2,000 species of plants across 20 acres. The nearby ʻAkaka Falls, which plunge 442 feet into a gorge, is another fantastic spot to visit.

The food is fantastic, and you’ll find just about anything you’re looking for.

Fresh seafood, local fruit, butter mocha, and even Portuguese sweet bread dot the menus and fire up your taste buds.

This incredible town is the perfect place to go on your next visit to Hawaii.

Grab your loved ones, and plan on spending quite a few days exploring this amazing area. It’s one trip that you won’t forget!
