What Kailani Tours Hawaii Provides
English-speaking driver/guide, Mercedes 15 passenger van, deli-style lunch (hot/cold sandwiches, chips, and soda), umbrellas in the event of rain, cold towel service, chilled bottled water and cookies.This tour has a maximum of 12 passengers to provide plenty of headroom in the cabin and comes with a state-of-the-art audio and visual package.
What to Bring
Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, camera, and perhaps a light jacket. There is no swimming on this tour.
What to Wear
Weather at the Place of Refuge can be quite hot. Morning temperatures tend to be a little bit milder (75-85 degrees F) but on occasion, the humidity can also be high. Kailani Tours Hawaii recommends wearing comfortable footwear, a hat and sunglasses and shorts.Slippers or flip-flops are not recommended.
This tour is for guests 3 years and older.Kailani Tours Hawaii will provide car seats or booster chairs upon request. Guests are welcome to bring their own if they wish. The does not include lengthy hikes but will be in exposed sunshine for approximately one hour.Passengers travelling with a collapsible wheelchair or walker are more than welcome to join us.Kailani Tours Hawaii’s spacious Mercedes passenger vans provide the ultimate in comfort for guests hoping to avoid large 50 passenger vans and want a more personal and authentic Hawaiian Experience.The Best of Kona tour is designed to give our guests the best first-class tour around.

Travel in comfort and style in our Mercedes Sprinter mini-coaches.Your guide will greet you with a warm “Aloha!” as we offer pickups from all major Kona hotels and resorts. Guests staying North of Kona may meet us at one of our Central Meeting Locations. We’ll drive through the newly paved Mamalahoa Bypass Road along the rocky shores of Kona to the town of Captain Cook. Your guide will first take you to an ancient place of refuge known as Pu’u Honua O Honaunau. See culturally significant plant species, birds and aquatic life. Further down through old lava fields, we will make a stop along the shore to imagine the fishing villages that used to dot this harsh landscape. Big Island Bees awaits as we will be able to tour a unique bee and honey farm nestled along the hillside. Tour, shop and sample nectar that was created by a fourth-generation beekeeper. Big Island Bees, the best honey around! Climbing further up the mountain we will make a stop at the Painted Church.
